Eliminating Ice Dams
by Installing the Heated Roof System |

|
Installing the Heated Roof System is the most effective and elegant way to eliminate ice dams permanently. For Retro-fit applications on existing structures, we suggest that all shingles are removed from ice dam problem areas. A new layer of Grace Ice and Water Shield® waterproof membrane should then be applied to the roof sheathing. Care is exercised in leaving the remaining last two courses of shingles loose, to ensure a perfect visual match with the new shingles. Our heaters are then attached over the waterproof membrane. Each heater is linked with a quick snap faston connector. At the end of the run, a length of wire is seamlessly connected to a weatherproof electrical box by a certified electrician. To eliminate the possibility of ice dams in New Construction, the same method is used as above. Then the remaining shingles are installed up to the roof peak. Metal applications require the heaters to be strategically placed, so the roofing material can be fastened properly. Please note that although these installations are simple, there is inherent danger to working on an elevated roof. We highly recommend you contact us for a list of Certified Roofing professionals in your area to install the Heated Roof System.
